Course Design
It is always a good practice to update your Canvas course at the beginning of every semester, especially if you copy content over from past semesters.
Our recomendations are the following:
- Go to Courses/ All Courses to check for past content. You will always have access to your past courses.
- Go to Settings to Import your course content, and take advantage of shifting dates.
- Check your Assigments, if they are published or unpublished, grouped, and total scores in the gradebook. You can move columns the Total column by dragging the column to the start of your page.
- Use the Link validator. In Settings, on the right side of the screen click on Validate Links to check for bronken internal or external links
- Update your Welcome Page. Update your information with current dates, office hours, links, and more.
- Announcements. Check for oudated content and update release dates if needed.
- Settings for your Canvas course. You can adjust settings for comments, grade visibility, and announcements in Home Page.
- Use Student View. In your Home Page, click on Student View to preview what students have access to in your Canvas course.
- Accessibility. Canvas has a built-in accessibility feature to check for compliance in Canvas pages.
